On Tuesday, June 26th, the CN Tower celebrated its 42nd anniversary with the grand unveiling of its completed $16 million renovation. The newly revised layout allows a captivating 360-degree view of the city through floor-to-ceiling windows wrapping the entire observation deck. The new windows, starting from 8 cm off the floor, allow persons with mobility challenges and younger children to experience the city views without difficulty and free of obstruction.
Other new features include a second glass floor, stationed directly above the original glass floor. The removal of the former Horizons restaurant has liberated the east side of the main observation deck, allowing guests to walk a full circle around the deck and enjoy the unmatchable, breathtaking view of the city.
A remodelled, sleek interior design replaces the deck's previous dated look. With changes such as light floors replacing dark carpeting and reflective ceilings, the deck now allows more light and reflection to enhance the experience.
Alexander and other children from Variety Village were ecstatic to be present for the revealing of a more accessible future, and take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
